For Kids Sports Soccer Rules

Over the past few years in traveling the country; The United States of America, I have surveyed kids and asked them if they play sports indeed many said that they played Soccer or Baseball and a few played pop-warner football, softball, basketball and hockey. But predominantly the standard answer was either baseball or soccer and mostly soccer. You see soccer for a kids sport seems to be one which is most favored.

As a kid I do remember that the AYSO American Youth Soccer Organization had a Motto; Everyone Plays Soccer. And the play and soccer formed the letters AYSO for the bumper stickers with this motto; pl-AY SO-ccer. Soccer indeed is a sport that all children who can run can play and it is also very popular with parents as well. They feel safer with their kids playing soccer rather than lets say boxing, hockey or football. That makes sense too of course.

Soccer seems to popular in every state almost without exception, even in colder climates children play in the summer time or have indoor soccer matches in the larger cities or well financed suburban cities. Soccer also is a sport, which helps keep kids fit and trim while teaching them hard work ethic, sportsmanship and team work. For all these reasons soccer appears to be the sport of choice for the next up and coming generation.

Soccer Definitely has it's Kicks

Soccer is one of the most interesting and popular sport played by people all over the world. There are hundred millions of soccer fans all around the world. Soccer is the most popular game in Soviet Union. It is also called soccer. The term soccer first appeared in the 1880s as a slang abbreviation of Association soccer, often credited to Charles Wreford-Brown.

Soccer is a game played with a ball on a rectangular grass field, 100 yards in length (occasionally on an artificial grass field), with goal lines and goal posts at either end. Soccer is governed by soccer law, which is administered by national soccer associations, who, in turn, must answer to Fifa.

Each team consists of a maximum of eleven players (excluding substitutes), one of whom must be the goalkeeper. A goalkeeper is the player of a team who is set into position to try to block shots into the goal.

Opposing teams of 11 players each attempt to gain possession of the ball and advance it by means of running and passing plays entirely across the opponent's goal line. A team doing so then scores a Goal.

The object of the game is to score by maneuvering the ball into the opposing goal. The predominant feature of the sport is that players other than the goalkeepers may not use their hands or arms to propel the ball in general play. Goalkeepers are the only players allowed to play the ball with their hands or arms, but they are only allowed to do so within the penalty area in front of their own goal. Though there are a variety of positions in which the outfield (non-goalkeeper) players are strategically placed by a manager or coach, these positions are not defined or required by the Laws. The winner is the team that has scored more goals at the end of the match.

The rules of soccer were codified in England by the Soccer Association in 1863, and the name association soccer was coined to distinguish the game from the other forms of soccer played at the time, specifically rugby soccer. There are seventeen Laws in the official Laws of the Game. The same Laws are designed to apply to all levels of soccer, although certain modifications for groups such as juniors, seniors or women are permitted. The Laws are often framed in broad terms, which allow flexibility in their application depending on the nature of the game. In addition to the seventeen Laws, numerous IFAB decisions and other directives contribute to the regulation of soccer.

Soccer is also a dangerous game as a lot of injuries are involved. A soccer player is twice as likely to sustain a minor injury as a basketball player, and five times as likely to sustain a minor injury as a skateboarder. Soccer was found to be the riskiest sport for children and teens as regards to minor injuries. But regardless of the dangers involved it still remains to be one of the most popular and favorite sports.

Rules of Soccer

Playing soccer is easy; being good at soccer takes a bit more effort. To be competent on the sport, the only way is to practice and play.

Like basketball, soccer players that are on the game field have their own designated positions. In the game of soccer there are eleven designated soccer positions on each team in the playing field. A single soccer team on the playing field has one goalie or goalkeeper and ten outfielders to play a variety of defensive, attacking and midfield positions. Each of these soccer positions has their own role and area of operation and certain set of skills are required in each of these soccer positions.

Defensive Positions or Defenders
Defenders are the players that are behind the midfielders. The main responsibilities of players designated in these soccer positions are to provide defensive support to the goalie and prevent the opposing team from scoring. Defenders usually stay on their side of the field.
* Centerback ? the centerbacks? main responsibility is to stop the opposing team from scoring or more particularly the strikers and to get the ball out of the penalty area as much as possible.
* Sweeper ? sweepers are the adaptable type of centerbacks. They sweep the ball if the opponents manage to break through the defensive line. A sweeper must have excellent ball handling, ball control and ball passing abilities to counter any attacking moves that the opponent does.
* Fullback ? fullbacks are the players that prevent the ball from crossing or cutting back into the penalty area.

Midfielders
Midfielders are positioned midway between the strikers and defenders. Their primary responsibilities are to make sure that they have possession of the ball, take the ball from the opposing team?s defenders and pass it to the strikers. Being a midfielder is one of the most exhausting soccer positions because midfielders? duties are broad. They are either called back into defensive position or sometimes attack the opposing team along with the strikers.
* Defensive midfield ? duties of players with these soccer positions is to take the ball away from the opposing team?s attackers.
* Attacking midfield ? players with in these positions are responsible for creating scoring opportunities.

Strikers or Forward or Attackers
Players with these soccer positions are the ones nearest to the opposing team?s goal. Their main duty is to score goals. The other duty of players with these soccer positions is to set up goal for their team mates. Most well known soccer players are strikers because strikers tend to score more than any of their team mates.

22 players and 11 members per team play soccer. Positions can be variable depending on the soccer formation and strategy employed, but usually a team roster includes a goalkeeper and a couple of defenders, midfielders and attackers.

Passing the Ball
Passing the ball is very easy, though the hardest part of passing accuracy. This is the starter player?s handicap. To do a standard rolling pass, you should kick the ball with the inside of your foot (instep and toe part). Your kick should hit the lateral part of the ball for it to travel in a roll. Kicking with the inside part of the foot also allows accuracy, wherein the arch is used to provide the ball direction. Ok, try it. Kick the ball with modest force with the arch providing direction.

Intermediate Passing and Shooting
The link also featured how to do a high pass. Notice how his foot made contact with the ball. For the ball to fly, the bottom of the ball should be hit while kicking. And to provide direction, the inside part (the toe part) of your foot should be the main contact of the bottom (of the ball)
Shooting the ball is the same as passing by a high ball. Even a rolling pass is considered shooting if it is used to score a goal. So now you see the importance of passing.

Playing soccer is easy; being good at soccer takes a bit more effort. To be competent on the sport, the only way is to practice and play. To be better, yet more practice and playing. But to be the best, again practice and play.

UEFA Cup Soccer Games Group Stage 2nd round

UEFA Cup Soccer Games Group Stage 2nd round. There are 8 groups, with 5 football teams in each. The second UEFA Group games take place on 2 November, Thursday. Ecobika sportsbetting picks tries to figure out the chances and of course, to pick the most likely results. As there are 5 teams, 1 team will not play. Let's see the menu:

Group A: Partizan v Livorno LIVESTREAM betting Very hard to predict, because Italian teams are very hard to beat. And this game is Partizan's first game int he group stage. UNDER 2.5 goals seems a good bet! Rangers v Maccabi Haifa Haifa won againts Auxerre 2 weeks ago, the moemntum is their side, but no question, which the better team is: Rangers to win

Group B: Tottenham v Club Brugge Though Tottenham is not the best yet int he Premiership, won in Turkey 2 weeks ago in the UEFA Cup, meanwhile Bruges and Leverkusen ended draw. This game is crystal clear: Ecobika picks home win Dinamo Bucuresti v Besiktas Dinamo's first game int he group. Besiktas after the fiasco at home versus Tottenham, Dinamo is the favorite of this game, but not sure win, therfore under 2.5 goals seems better bet for me with these great odds.

Group C: Grasshoppers v AZ Alkmaar If AZ: over 2.5 goals. The Swiss team not yet played int he group. Many goals? Ecobika pick OVER 2.5 goals. Braga v Slovan Liberec Both teams are defensive enough. this game is crying for picking UNDER 2.5 goals with these odds!. Group D: Heerenveen v OB Odense The Dutch team played draw 2 weeks ago in Osasuna - not bad! -, meanwhile Odense lost against Cup-specialist Italian team Parma. Ecobika thinks that this game a home banket, even if it will be difficult. Lens v Osasuna Osasuna missed the opportunities at home against the Dutch team, and most likely this will not their game neither. Lens to win their first match int he group

Group E: Blackburn v Basel Theoretically the odds of Blackburn will drop, but Basel is a dangerous team. Hard to predict, but maybe the best bet is under 2.5 goals. Nancy v Wisla Cracow The bettors will be united backing Nancy, and really, home win is a good try.

Group F: Zulte-Waregem v Sparta Prague The small Belgian team made one of the biggest upset beating Austria Wien in Vienna 2 weeks ago. The same time Sparta - surpisingly for Ecobika - lost at home versus Espanyol. Theoretically Sparta is better, but maybe under 2.5 goals is better bet, than away win. Ajax v Austria No comment needed here, Ajax - though disappointed - a class above Austria Wien. Ecobika pick: home win.

Group G: Hapoel Tel-Aviv v Rapid Bucuresti The odds will be against Hapoel, and Rapid Bucharest's phylosophy is crystal clear: winning against the weaker teams, and draw against the better teams. Away win

Mlad? Boleslav v Panathinaikos The first game of the Czech team int he group stage. UNDER 2.5 goals seems good bet here.

Group H: Palermo v Newcastle Two winners from the 1st round int he group. Italian talent against English bulldogs. Home win is widely expected, buti t is no tan easy bet!

Celta v Eintracht Frankfurt Frankfurt is the weakest team int he group, so Celta must win this game to keep the tempo with Palermo and Newcastle. Ecobika pick: home win

The odds are subject to change. The picks of Ecobika only reflect opinion, not surebets! Good luck!

Are You Soccer Mad?.. Soccer Crazy?.. Then try these Rome Soccer Tours

If you are fanatical about soccer, as you read through this article you're going to learn that it's easier than you think to travel to Rome, and see a classic soccer match, with the fans of Roma or Lazio at your side. Wouldn't it be amazing to tell your friends that you were there, in the Stadio Olimpico, when the winning goal was scored!

Whether you are coming to Rome on vacation or business, you simply have to experience the thrill of a football match! Rome soccer tour packages give you tickets to AS Roma or SS Lazio home games, hotel accommodation and breakfast daily. But don't delay, tickets sell out quickly because both teams attract fanatical support.

The Stadio Olimpico is home to both Roma and Lazio and was built for the 1960 Olympic games. An impressive 82,000 plus venue it has housed European Cup Finals and the 1990 World Cup Final. It is also the first choice home of the Italian national team, and a great venue for these Rome soccer tours.

And you can be reassured... it's easy to get there. Rome's principal airport, Fiumicino, lies 30kms south of the city and connects to Rome's major train station, Termini by regular hourly trains. The second airport, Ciampino, lies 15km south east of the city and is connected to the centre by bus to Anagnina metro station, where a direct train and then a tram will quickly get you to the stadium.

You can even save time and money and book your airport transfer services before you go! You can use a shuttle service that will take you from Rome's Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport to your Rome Hotel, without the hassle of picking up a rental car, negotiating unfamiliar traffic and maps.

The history of both Roman Football Clubs is equally littered with glory and frustration.

AS Roma were born in 1927 from the fusion of three different clubs - Alba, Fortitudo and Roman. A fine record in the 1930s eventually led to the first Giallorossi Scudetto in 1942.

Difficult years followed until their one and only relegation in 1951. With an immediate return to the top flight, Roma quickly captured a third place and the 1961 UEFA Cup. The Coppa Italia came in 1964, the first of seven in this competition.

Roma's most glorious years were the 1980s as aside from the two Italian Cups, the club's second Scudetto was lifted by Coach Nils Liedholm in 1983. The following year only a penalty shoot-out against Liverpool at the Stadio Olimpico kept them from winning the European Cup.

Fabio Capello's Roma led the 2000-01 Serie A table from start to finish for their third Scudetto and the club's first medal in a decade.

Rivals Lazio were founded in 1900 as Societa Spotiva Lazio, a multi-purpose sports club. The Biancocelesti began football full-time in 1906. Winning one wartime Roman title in 1944, the club lifted their first national trophy - a Coppa Italia - in 1958 but were relegated three seasons later.

Several trips up and down the Divisions preceded Lazio's first Scudetto in 1973-74 when they were led by the legendary Giorgio Chinaglia. But within five years came the club's darkest hour as Lazio was relegated for financial irregularities and only a play-off prevented the club from slipping into Serie C in 1987.

Sergio Cragnotti took over the club in 1992 and with his financial backing Lazio have become a force both in Italy and Europe. Since 1997 the Biancocelesti have won their second Scudetto, a Cup-Winners' Cup, an Italian and European Super Cup and two Italian Cups. However, only massive sales and a restructuring of contracts allowed the club to avoid bankruptcy.

Both clubs continue to ride close to the top of Italy's Serie A, and the rivalry is intense, especially during the annual "derby" matches where the teams and tifosi face each other. So, if your passion is football, then don't miss the opportunity to see your favorite Roman team play a home game this season, and be there with The Ultras!

Why book ahead?.. Well, here are my thoughts: * The most popular matches can sell out well in advance. Don't risk being disappointed! * Reduce stress! Don't waste time haggling with the hotel concierge for matchday tickets. * Lock in your price! Currency dips & price hikes won't effect you. * Save vacation time! Plan & book now, not when you're there. * Balance your vacation budget! Charge tours on this month's credit card bill.

Believe me (and I've been in Rome during a major soccer tournament!) there's nothing like the atmosphere of a match day, and the city buzzes with excitment. So, try one of these great value Rome soccer tours. Take the easy way - and book this efficient service online now and save time in Rome. You could have your match tickets secured in the next fifteen minutes!

Junior Soccer Defending - Directing the Play

http://www.juniorsoccercoach.com
Do your players know whether to show an opponent inside or
outside when they are defending?
You may want to consider this tactic when coaching your
players. There are two schools of thought on this; One says
that your defenders should show the opponents outside
towards the touchline.
The reason for this is that if your player does get beat
then the opponent will still have to get a cross in. Also,
they should be at a more acute angle to get a shot on
target if they have been successfully pushed outside.

The alternative to this is showing the opponents inside,
towards goal. If this is to be your style of play then the
players need to be organised so that there is strength
inside. This can be a risky tactic if players are not
switched on or don't know where to best position
themselves.

Showing them inside would be a good tactic if you where
playing with five in defence with a good sweeper.

If your team lacks some direction on this tactic, then it
will be very difficult for them to get an organised shape
and take a position which is best suited to holding up or
breaking down an attack.

Both young and older players can be coached on this.

As players get older, and become more tactically aware
& proficient in defending techniques, they will be able to
influence the build up play and therefore your defensive
line can react, and adjust, by taking the lead off the first
defender.

Build this simple tactic into some small sided games in
training and watch the beneficial results on match day!
